Or 'The Most Bizarre Encore Ever'. That would be a correct title of the entry. On the way to a livehouse I stopped at Likea, met up with and finally got my copies of HORIZON (both versions, because while I'm not particularly fond of shiny things, I find others' fascination with them amusing.cough.Hizumi.cough.) Then we headed to Holiday and met up with there. The live house wasn't exactly packed, there was plenty of space between people and even the front rows didn't look that pushy, at least until the third encore when people started gyaku diving.
I wouldn't be able to tell the setlist even if my life depended on it. The main part was relatively short about an hour and 20 min, and then 3 encores: first 3 acoustic songs, then 2 songs and finally 2(or 3?)songs, so the whole 'intended' part lasted a little over 2 hours. The live was a lot of fun, I haven't headbanged that hard since September 9 probably;D What I liked about the band is that though it was their last tour, the last live in Nagoya (and as a matter of fact the first one-man here), they looked cheerful and Satsuki smiled a lot and joked during the MC. No drama, that's nice;)Satsuki dived during one of the songs in the middle and then as soon as he climbed back on the stage, he dived again, and again and again.
I think he jumped like 4-5 times in a row. Then one of his belt came off and he didn't jumped again until the very end, maybe he was afraid something else would get ripped off.People were not the most vocal when it came to calling for encores. When I, of all people, am the one who starts the clapping, there is a problem Satsuki even commented on that during his third encore's MC, he said that the atmosphere was rather dark in the live house.
He on the other hand, as I already mentioned, was quite cheerful. He told everyone not to cry and that it was good that there was Rentrer en soi and that we'd met. He also joked about how it was their first one-man in Nagoya and how it was different from how he imagined it would be.
He imitated fans screaming his name then 'Satsuki!!!' Maybe it was the fact that he mentioned the gloomy atmosphere or people finally woke up by the end of the gig and realized that this is the last time they ever going to see the band, but they started shouting for the fourth encore. I was pretty sure nothing would happen, the staff announced several times that it was the end and tried to make people leave, but they persisted. After at least 15 min of shouting Satsuki talked to us from the backstage. He said that the manager already told them that it was over and the technicians were removing the equipment.
People in the front row then grabbed the curtain that covered the stage and lifted it so we all could look under it and see that it was true, the drumset was half dissembled and all equipment was being removed. Satsuki was like 'What should we do.?' When everybody screamed for them to come back anyway, he said 'OK, just me and Takumi will play a song.'
It took them a few minutes to appear, they sung a song and played acoustic guitars. After that other members came out and waved the last good byes. The fans in Nagoya might be quite timid, but when they put their mind to it, they get their way. I don't think the band and the staff ever expected that;DP.S. When I came back home I found a letter from D'espairsRay FC that contained the postcards with members photos. Does anyone know what that is? A renewal gift?
Something else? I'm not complaining that they sent it to me, I just would like to know the reason. I realized I can't be bothered to write anything more than a few lines, so it's going to be like a short note 'I was there' xDHoliday is a big turn off when it comes to the lives, I thought of not going there today, but in the end I went. I haven't been there in a while, about half a year I think, and the live house changed for better. They got a new decent sound system and their drinks menu now includes a lot more than just a couple of obscure and gross soft drinks, it still costs 600 yen though. They also moved all the goods tables from the hall to the entrance, so now it's a lot more spacious inside, despite that it was quite crowded today.シンディ ケイト - sucked music-wise, but were quite entertaining. During one of the songs the vocalist wore a white woman's hat and he had a fishing rod with some pink plushie (teddy bear?
I'm not sure) tied to it and he would throw it in the audience and then pull back.THE KIDDIE - The pain! The suffering I had to endure!
They also played such a long set that we started to joke about throwing a water bottle at them or strangling ourselves with a towel just to put an end to it.ジュリィー - were rather interesting, a vocalist and a guitarist had to do a very long MC while another guitarist fixed some technical problems xDRENTERER EN SOI - Satsukiiiiii!!!!!!!! I didn't pay much attention to their last single Stigmata, I have it somewhere around my house and I haven't listened to it yet. I might have seen a video once, but I don't really remember it, so their look was rather surprising, it was a lot more visual than it has been for a while. They played six song total starting with Just Mad Pain, also Shinwa and Taiyou no Todokanai Basho, I don't know what was other three songs, probably the new ones. But anyway.joins the screams of all the fanboys. SATSUKIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were fun;D東京ミカエル。 - meh boring.Ruvie - It was their last live in Nagoya before their break up. But I don't really care about them, so I spaced out for the most part of their set x'DAfter that we went to Saizeriya as usual. Rentrer en soi comment for Music Japan TV aired on 05.04.08Sakura is blooming right now so even an area I live in looks nice. It's not that pretty usually xD I took this photo from my balcony today (ignore all the power cables ) However, I wasn't particularly happy about sakura when a wind blew a lot of petals in my living room right after I finished cleaning it ^^;;;This is another photo of the street I took last week when I was on the way to work. We have a hanami party tomorrow ^^Yeah, I'm too lazy to go somewhere to take good pictures xD.
Ah finally a day off xD and this entry is gonna be all over the place xDApril 13 - Osaka, Gazette live at Osaka-jou Hall. I got a ticket today YAY! ^^April 17 - Yokohama, a project meeting.April 19-20 - Tokyo, Gazette finals.April 23 - Tokyo, a project meeting. And a design deadline on the same day. They always coincide, it's karma My co-worker laughed at my dramatic wailing 'Wryyyy?! On the same day again?!?!' He does not know my pain At least I don't have to go to Fukuoka next week like some of my colleagues, I just have to prepare data for them.
What is it suddenly with all the meetings? Anyway I go back and forth between Nagoya-Osaka-Tokyo a bit too often. And that was only April, there will be more in May xDI went shopping today and since I wanted a new bag I went to Sunshine Sakae that has a lot of men fashion stores, but all they had were ugly purses Eventually I found a bag I liked at Takashimaya near Nagoya station ^^I also stopped at Like an Edison and bought Sadie's Crimson Tear Director's cut DVD and Rentrer en soi's Stigmata.
I got a ticket for another signing event of Sadie at Like an Edison in May;D Hopefully it'll be at the time I can go, since I'm going to D'espairsray live that day ^^; After watching Making of part of DVD I think I know why Mao was sick during Zy Stylish wave live since they were shooting PV for three days before that. Crazy people The DVD came with a special comment DVD, Nagoya version. And me went to see RENTRER EN SOI and UnsraW two-man live at Holiday Nagoya today.
Because there were only two bands playing, both had about one hour long sets (not just 5 songs like before) and I think because of that was the best RENTRER EN SOI live I've been to. No way I can tell the set list except that they played Just Mad Pain, Shinwa and the last song was I Hate Myself And Want To Die (and there is no set list on 2ch yet).UnsraW played without a vocalist who is sick and had vocals as a playback like some weird inversed version of karaoke. It was downright creepy sometimes when they even had his voice screaming something like 'Raise your fists!' -;;; But then even I joined into headbanging for them, probably mostly because I was poked, punched and kicked into doing it. Not that she is a fan of UnsraW, she was just bored and I happened to stand in front of her xD Lolita girls are evil TTThe thing that was also surprising about this live was that there was not a single gyaru there and so many fanboys oO Very unusual, but very nice xD I bought 'Cinema Cradle' DVD and I was so amused that a fanboy who stood in front of me in the line bought like five RES' photosets xDDDWe hung out at the Starbacks (lol how lame does that sound) after the live and when I got home I finished cleaning the house and doing laundry. Is coming tomorrow to Nagoya and we'll go to Gazette FC-only lives on Tuesday and Wednesday.
And then Nara and maybe some more sightseeing ^^ I have the whole next week off! ( )And that's all about the live ^^ RES was good and some other bands were quite amusing too ^^And just because I feel like spamming with randomness xD Today it was proven once again that sometimes it's useful to be a gaijin living in Japan and therefore being easy to spot ^^ In the middle of the day I left the apartment for a few minutes only to go to a convenience store one block away. When I got back I saw a delivery minivan driving away from my house and thought that it'd be just my luck that something would be delivered to me when I'm away for some 10 min -' I was actually expecting a package from Heresy. But of course I couldn't go to them and ask about it right? However, when I passed the van and turned to my apartment building I noticed that one of the delivery guys got out of the van and ran after me.
When he got to me, he asked if I was.insert my last name here.-san ^^ They indeed had a package for me and when they saw me they figured I must be the one it is for. Really, how many other gaijin women live in the area?
XD But it was very nice of them nonetheless ^^ And now I have my Gazette calendar for 2008 ^o^v. I'll make this short because I have stuff to work on, but if I won't post it now I'll forget Today we went to Holiday Nagoya to see several bands. There was something very weird about the order the bands played, it was so random, I suspect they decided it by janken hurts In five months since I saw them the first time they definitely improved. They sucked back then but today they were much better.gossip We've seen them twice before but they changed so much that we didn't recognize them at all until the vocalist said who they were. They were really good this time. The vocalist was crazy, he was running all over the stage and climbing on the speakers. He dived into the crowd which was totally stupid, because the girls didn't manage to hold him so he fell to the ground XDRentrer en soi They were good as ever!
They started with 'Just Mad Pain' and played five songs from the last album 'The bottom of chaos' Before the forth song 'Shinwa' (I think that's what it was I'm horrible at remembering the titles of songs ) Satsuki sung a few lines without the band playing and it was so good.O. I always say that, I say it again: his voice is amazing.meth. The hard songs were not that bad, but during the third song which had somewhat pop sound I wanted to cover my ears it was so bad Ruvie I still don't like the most of their stuff, but two fast-paced songs they played were good.Dali The vocalist jumped into the audience and moshed to his own band again XDDDDDio Not bad, not good, can't really say anything.shrugs.The last band was supposed to be Clear Veil. We saw them once and were not eager to see ever again, so we left and went to Denny's for a dinner. Now I have to work I slept or just layed on a sofa doing nothing the whole day today, but I have to go to Yokohama tomorrow and I'm still not done with the presentation. I wish sometimes it'd be 30/10 instead of 24/7 maybe then my life wouldn't be so hectic. I doubt though.
Today I went to Holiday Nagoya with to see Ruvie, Rentrer en soi, シリアル⇔ Number, gossip, UnsraW, bis and イロクイ.1. Gossip - it's the second time I saw them (well kinda, we missed the most of their set the last time) and honestly I can't really say anything again. Not bad, but not interesting. I thought the second song was good, but they should have ended it 5 min earlier, it got boring.2. UnsraW - the same, they had funny masks, but otherwise pretty average. At the end of their set the girls in the front shoot the serpentine (long narrow pieces of paper.
How those things are actually called?) and then flipped the band off when they bowed and left Kids, you either go for cute or hardcore. Oh, wait flipping your favorite band off is NOT COOL!
Rentrer en soi - It took me a moment to realize that it was them on stage. One reason is that I didn't expect them to be that early and another is that I don't really know the faces of the members except Satsuki (probably I'd be able to recognize a bassist too) maybe I also couldn't see them well in the beginning, but whatever it was I realized it was them when they started to play 'I was damned', which was followed with 'Ushinawareta fuukei no yume', then another song from the last album 'The bottom of chaos' I don't remember the title of, and they finished with 'I hate myself and want to die'. They were awesome, I love Satsuki's voice. Actually now that I think about it, fanboys in the first row should have been enough of a clue that it's going to be Rentrer en soi's set XDDDDDDD During the show Satsuki's shirt got unbuttoned and then he just opened it all the way.
It was funny to see two little girls about 15 years old standing in front of me who, when they saw his bare chest and nipples, started pointing fingers and drooling (almost literally) XDDDDDDDD really, what is the average age of the fans at those shows?. But I'll get back to that.4. シリアル⇔ Number - they played four songs as well including a new song 'Go!Ya!Number', but they didn't perform the song with red-clap-thingy and the song when they do funny steps They were also wearing new costumes, which kinda looked like waiters outfits and Shiyuu had blond gyaru-hime hair. OBack to the topic of the average age of the fans. I'd say about 17 years old.
And I'd be the oldest person in the audience most of the time if not for THAT WOMAN! She was there again today! OXD I'll be there sooner than I wish though. T^TAnyway, I loved Retrer en soi and シリアル⇔ Number ^^ I got a 'Go!Ya!'
Single and a Rentrer en soi's single 'I hate myself and want to die' which comes with a live DVD. I also bought D'espairsRay DVD 'Liquidize' in Tower Records on the way to Holiday. Now I have a lot to watch ^^On the way out of Holiday we ran into the drummer and the vocalist of シリアル⇔ Number. and I think Hideki, the bassist, was standing nearby talking to someone, but I'm not sure it was dark and he was wearing a mask over his face. OK, now that I'm home and have some time I'll write about yesterday live at Holiday Nagoya (I'm becoming a regular there XD)The live started at 16.30 so I had to leave the work early to get there on time.
And honestly I felt a bit guilty for doing so even though it doesn't really matter (I think?) I'm not on the clock, that's a good thing about working at the university XDDDD even if that means overtime all the time XDDDDI arrived to Holiday when the first band was already playing, but I don't think I missed anything interesting XDDDDD.
